Counseling

How is counseling different than psychotherapy or psychoanalysis? Counseling may be suitable for people who are dealing with a temporary crisis. Sometimes counseling can help alleviate immediate distress in a rapid 8 to 10 sessions. However, if there are underlying, longstanding problems, these will take more time to resolve. If you are seeking guidance on a particular issue and not addressing underlying issues, counseling may be sufficient.
